On to Oregon!!!
| There were several “friendlies” at the Garibaldi Pub in Garibaldi, OR as well. It was there I met Matt & Julie LaFoon and Jim (the bartender) who were die-hard Harley riders. It was the bikes out front that made me turn around & stop for a brew, even though I didn't need a break yet. They were all just as impressed with my journey as everyone else and we quickly became acquainted, the way bikers do. | |
| Soon, we learned that we had a great deal in common. They told me about the bike they were raffling off (A '03 Anniversary Edition Wide Glide) in hopes to raise money for a much needed teen center in Rockaway Beach, OR. They told me that the price was $20.00, but they were only selling 2500 tickets, so the odds were great. I said, "Well now, ain't that a coincidence . . . " and told them about our Bug Run. We had a laugh over the chances of us having such similar circumstances & goals, and agreed to buy one of each other's tickets (we even exchanged twenties, just for luck!). | |
| I think their party might top ours though, as their's will be held on the beach and will feature a concert by Grand Funk Railroad (July 11th-13th if you're out that way). | |

I ran into Dave Sauter from the Roseburg, OR H.O.G. Chapter # 8158 who told me they had about 40 members. When I told him of our membership, it was clear that he wondered what it would be like to be in such a big chapter. Not that he needs to feel self conscious, as I'm sure that they pack just as much of a wallop as our club does! |
| I met a couple of Canadian Bikers at a gas station outside of Vancouver.. Dave Ray, and his buddy Gary (or better known as ‘Boomer’ & ‘Sticker’ to their bro’s) who ride with a club called the Alky Angels out of Bellingham, WA. They were the type that when you shook their hand, you knew you had a pal for life. Hell, they damn near insisted that I spend a couple of days with them on some great roads in British Columbia. These guys sure talked funny, eh? They both had that biker grin permanently attached to their face, and their heart was on their sleeve when they talked about how good it felt to be out for a putt. Easy to talk to, and easy to like. | ![]() |
| Man, we belong to a great “family”. Ride on brothers, I will look you up next time I'm out that way! | |
