| Next day, I definitely want the Iowans to experience the Black Canyon of the Gunnison Nat’l Park. This is must stop for anyone traveling between Gunnison & Montrose on their way to Durango. We’re sort of ‘winging it’ today, so Loren (our unofficial Road Captain) and I (our unofficial Map Reader) were pulling the map out quite a bit. We decide to head west and take off north on Hwy 92 to the north side of the Gunnison Gorge. Loren has been drilled by the women – “you stop at scenic overlooks” – and today he did. We must have pulled over 3 times within the 1st 10 miles, and we all took advantage of these great photo opportunities. | |
