| After the 2nd pass we were going down in elevation pretty quickly (7% grade) into the town of Lake City. Be sure to downshift as much as possible as we met some riders from Texas who had lost one rider in the ditch due to his brakes locking up. He got away with a broken arm and some bruises, but who wants to damage their bike & end up in the hospital – not a way to end your trip! | |
| From Lake City we continued north through the Powderhorn Wilderness (interesting rock formations) to the Blue Mesa Reservoir. We actually rode along this reservoir more than once on our journeys and it was always true blue, no matter what time of day. Had dinner at the “Elk Creek Marina“ - great chef, sat on an outdoor patio overlooking a small bay, sun going down – definitely worth checking out. | |

| Get back to Gunnison & hung out at the Hylander; mileage for the day = 362 miles, & some very tired, but content riders. | |
