| This next stretch of road is absolutely beautiful. Chris & I will definitely go back & spend some time in the Rio Grande National Forest, especially between Creede and Lake City on the ‘Silver Thread Scenic Byway’, (Hwy 149). There were huge sweeping valleys, beautiful vistas, and the mighty Rio Grande River meandering in & out of view. We crossed over the Continental Divide and two more passes – Spring Creek at 10,901 ft and Slumgullion at 11,361 ft. I wish I had more photos of this stretch; we missed a couple scenic overlooks where the views were just breathtaking. | |
