Durango 2004

What actually originated this Southern Colorado road trip was the “Four Corners Rally of the Rockies” in Ignacio, Colorado (SW near Durango). It was more of a final destination for us as we really didn’t plan on spending much time at the rally itself. This trip was very special to me as it’s the first time I went on a Harley road trip with my sisters & bros-in-law from Iowa – something I’ve wanted to do for a very, long time. We refer to this trip as ‘Durango 2004’; even though on the last day we officially dubbed it the “1st Annual BK BJ” (Make it your way!). Meet us, the Bruce’s from Aurora (far right), and the Kleins (2nd from left), Bjorholms (2nd from right) and Jorns (far left) all from Des Moines, Iowa…

We chose Gunnison as our first destination as it’s centrally located and a little over half way to Durango. We enjoyed our stay at the Hylander Inn Motel (if you stay there ask for the rooms facing the park). The long porch with lawn chairs provided a great place to gather at night and share stories and lots of laughs. It was also nice that we could park our bikes right outside our doors.
